Reiki

So many strange concepts. People need to do some serious, well-funded, widespread research on these things. Most of the research that is done currently is too small scale to prove or disprove anything conclusively. eg:

"There have been reports of positive effects of Reiki treatment in papers published in some medical journals promoting alternative medicine. Proposed benefits include relaxation and increased immunity, reduced heart rate, improved blood pressure, reduced pain, anxiety and depression.[10]. As these results can be attributed to the placebo effect, further studies need to be done to determine the effectiveness of Reiki [11]."

Although, I'd say that the placebo effect was ki related anyway.

Comments:
interesting, i'd also say that if the placebo effect causes good things like that then real or not, its beneficial. Also, i posted this from my wii :D

I think it's an issue of efficiency though - if the benefits are a result of the placebo effect then there's probably a faster and less complex (not to mention more globally acceptable) way of inspiring that effect.
