N N N NOOOOOOOOAAARGRGRGHH!!!!! *cough*

I've just been putting in my preferences for next semesters classes and it seems that I have 27!!! contact hours per week! Damn that sucks! And to top it off I have to stay till 6 on 3 days! And I can't do anything about it! I so nearly was able to get off at 1 on thursday, but then CHEM LAB had to come along and ruin my glorious day! Damn subjects that only offer one lab or one tut or some crap. Now i have a 3 hour gap on thursday after 1, till my some tutorial at 4. It's so crap. The only way it could be cool is if the electrical eng tut and lab are actually the same thing and the allocate+ people are just idiots and put them under seperate headings. Then i'd only have 25 contact hours and I could get off at 1 on thursday. Oh how I pray that that is the case.
Anyway, here is a graphical representation for clarity:

At least I managed to get myself only 1 hour of classes on friday again. Damn ENG1603, whatever that is. Couldn't let me have the day off could it? Bah.

Sheila's

Just a little tidbit I came across while reading my book of celtic first names:
"Sheila (Irish, Scots, female)
A version of Gaelic Sile, Celia. This name became highly popular in Australia, to the extent that all girls were 'Sheilas'. The version Shelagh is still found."

Curious eh? Makes sense though, in that strange kinda way.

Ring Mystery Solved!

Mark and his mum have unravelled this little mystery of mine. Mark showed his mum the pic and she just happened to recognise it, because she is a "wannabe hippie" as Mark put it.
Here is marks explanation:
'...its a buddhist saying "Om Mani Padme Hum" it means "hail the jewel in the lotus." Its meant to be a protective saying.
Om Mani Padme Hum is a syllable incocation of Avolkiteswara one who is invoked as the savior and the protector from danger. One who recites this mantra, he will be saved from all danger and will be protected. So this mantra is widely found in every field of Mahayana Buddhism. One can find this mantra inscribed on rocks prayer wheels, walls, loose stones exits. As this mantra saves from all danger people used it as pendant, rings ect. for the protection."

He also supplied these pictures, which I found very convincing:

Compare those to this:

and I say case closed!

So now I have me a ring with a mantra that will protect me from all danger. I told you I was invincible!
Ominous eh? Strange that I should just happen to find a ring to protect me from all danger lying at my feet at a beach in woop woop. What's being suggested here, that some danger is coming that I will need protection from?
Ah well, no need to worry about it eh? I'm safe at least :P.

Virtues

I was just thinking about the virtues we say at the start of every training session at karate. I won't bother you with the japanese, but this is what they mean:

Be truthful and sincere
Never regret the effort you put in
Be enthusiastic and energetic in everything you do
Never do anything you will be ashamed of
Don't be lazy

They're really pretty good virtues to say, a bit harder to follow them all the time in our daily lives. Still, I suppose it would be a better world if everybody did follow them.

I was also thinking about people who are addicted to things. While I will still call them foolish and weak-willed, I can feel a bit more sorry for them now that I thought about it like this.
Suppose that someone told you that listening to music slowly caused your brain to release chemicals that would eventually kill you. Now, you'd obviously have to stop listening to music, were it possible in our society, and I could certainly do it if it prevented me from dying, but I would be rather sad at the prospect of never hearing anything so beautiful again. It would be a hard thing to have to give up. So I can feel slightly more sorry for people who have to give stuff up because they'll die otherwise. They're still foolish for getting themselves addicted to something stupid that can't possibly be anywhere near as awesome as music, but I do pity them a little now.

Blog's

I just happened to go check out De Vec's blog while checking out Jason's, he's got some pretty good poetry happening there. You should go read it sometime.

I was also checking out the list of most recently published blogs and came across this: http://jipp3r.blogspot.com
It's some person's hatelist, it's really cool you should go read it ;)
