Mmm, grapes (also enrolment day)

So, about enrolment day. It went faster than i expected, thank god. I though I was going to be there until 7.00 or so (since i was going to be dropped off in the morning by my dad and picked up on his way home.) Fortunately once i had wandered throughout the campus and eventually come across the engineering buildings I was able to start enrolling pretty much straight away (this was at about 10.30 or so, when i had thought I'd have to wait until 1.30). Anyhow, that whole process happened and I ended up signing myself up to two camps and a beach party. Didn't sound like a bad haul, especially since I will have turned 18 before any of those things start and i'll be able to do whatever I damn well like. I even have funding due to my recently being paid. So those camps should prove entertaining, and so should that night when the uni takes over level 3 of crown. Steve will be left out, but I shall be able to get in and get all the cheep booze I want! Probably won't be that much, I'm not much of a drinker. Anyhow, i hopw that crap is fun.
Looks like we won't be claying the forge today, it seems to be pouring with rain. Definately not ideal weather.

That by accepting discipline we are liberated.

In the rush of conflict we find calm.

In the pursuit of self-perfection we are joined with others.

And that only by learning to pick up the sword

Can we develop the wisdom to put it down again.

Greetings to all, I have returned to post once again. Mostly I am passing sometime while Fudgey downloads UO AoS for me. 615 meg was a bit of a tall order for my poor 56k modem. It seems to be going rather well, he has reported speeds of 560 kbps, so it should be downloaded in a couple of hours, as opposed to the 47 it was going to take me. Wow, the speed seems to have increased to 965 kbps. It might be lying though, since it told me i was downloading at 30 kbps which i certainly was not. Even if it is lying it shouldn't take too long.
Anyhow, i didn't do too much today. Got up at about 12, played a little gunbound, had some visitors who had nothing to do and required my genius to think of something (unfortunately frankston is too boring for even my genius to think of much to do) and went to see The Last Samurai again (Damn good movie that, everyone who hasn't seen it should get off their arses and go see it now!). I keep forgetting to ring the jumping castle ppl in regular business hours, which i really must do if i'm going to have a jumping castle at my party. Its only two weeks or so away I think, so I really must do it quick. In fact, looking at the calender its next thursday, so i better get a move on. Although, I don't actually have to have my party on my birthday, so just as long as i ring the place soon it whould be ok.
Got my Monash Enrolment day this thursday too, which shall be interesting I trust. I'll be able to take another look at the place I'll be hanging out for the next 5 years.
Ok, thats enough blogging for now. Bonjour! (I think thats appropriate... if not then Saiyonara!)

*This number is made up. This post may not actually be post number 23.

A-hauling metal we go!

Phew! I just get back from hauling a big piece of metal tread and a girder from the quarry to my house. It took me a damn long time, those bitches were heavy. They are much better quality than the crap we got from the ruined cars at least.
Today we went to the woods next to the quarry and hauled our barrel and some car parts off for usage in building our forge. Got some strange looks, but all the stuff is safely in my back yard. We can begin some actual construction tommorow i think. I had an urge to get better metal which is why i went to get that other stuff. Woulda been much easier with a couple more ppl :P. Oh well, I lived, just.

Woohoo! Monash ho!

Ahh yes, after examining the newspaper I discovered that I indeed did get into the aerospace engineering course at monash that I aimed for, even tho the enter went up a bit. So woohoo, thats good to know. I'll have to check out what everyone else got.
Anyhow, one of my first actions upon going to monash will be to join the Kendo club! Booyaa! Go Kendo!
I shall see who will be accompanying me.

The Trek

Yesterday Stephen (Fudgey) and I went for a bit of a bike ride. We weren't going anywhere in particular, we just thought we'd head down the peninsula and see where we ended up. First we had to ride up olivers hill, which was a bitch (We had to take a mid-hill break) and also bikes had to ride just a little further up a hill than cars did. It sucked. There was a good view from the top tho. Next we turned right into Mount Eliza and rode around in there for a while, checking out all the rich peoples houses along the coast. Eventually we made it to a park that was somewhere near Canadian Bay, in which we rested for a good half an hour. We were pretty screwed, it was 11 and we'd been riding since 9. After that we jumped on the highway again and followed it through Mornington and Mount Martha and such. Silvers Circus was in mornington someplace, those guys appear everywhere.
There were quite a few bike riders around, more than I would have expected anyway. We went up and down and damn lot of hills along that highway, having to take mid-hill breaks on several of them. There was also some farm-place out there where Stephen said he'd been to someones wedding. Anyway, at about 12.30 or so we were extremely screwed, and started looking for somewhere to stop for lunch and rest. We'd just come around a great big hill and we could see a nice looking town nestled in a valley near a little bay, so we thought we'd try head there. Stephen said he though it was Dromana, and he turned out to be right. We wanted to take the freeway in there, but the damn thing had a big sign prohibiting us from doing so. We considered doing it anyway, but we didn't particularly want a fine or something. So we just continued along the highway, which seemed to be taking us far from where we wanted to go, however it eventually took a nice right hand turn and took us straight into Dromana, up a slight incline which killed our already injured legs. We crawled into Dromana and got food at the closest place we could find, which turned out to be a little milk bar/bakery place. We both got a hotdog and went over to the beach to eat them.
It was 1 oclock by the time we were in Dromana, and we sat around eating for a while. Well, I ate more than stephen since I had a whole backpack full of food with me. I shared it but he seemed strangely un-hungry :).
Some time during our meal Kiah rang and asked me if I wanted to do something, to which I replied that it would have to be in Dromana. It was rather amusing. She then called me and Stephen crazy and left. Haggis messaged some time also, which was about the time stephen and I realised that it was only now that people really started to get up and move around, and we'd already been up and riding for 4 hours :).
After our little banquet we decided to go check out Dromana a bit. There didn't seem that much there, although it did have a nice beach and a number of food shops. We weren't hungry though so those didn't interest us anymore. There was a little mall we discovered eventually, which was really rather poor and had crap all shops. The only shop we actually went into was a little antiques shop. Most of the stuff there didn't seem very antique to me, but there was this cool metal beer mug thingy for $7 which I seriously considered getting. Maybe I should have. I wouldn't have done much with it, but when has that stopped me before? Oh well.
We decided to just go rest some more, so we started heading towards some benches near the beach when I spotted an icecreamery and suggested we go get some icecream. Stephen also considered this a good plan, so we headed in there and bought some rather tasty icecream. Stephen was under the impression that one of the girls who worked there was called briony and used to go to our Karate school, but I didn't recognise her at all. That icecreamery also had a cool picture on one wall which was a view of greater melbourne from space. It's weird how perfectly squarish all the parts of the city look from space. Kinda sucks really. The mountains to the north-east looked far cooler. Theres really no wilderness down in these parts at all, no decent amount of it anyway. Gotta head out of this massive city to find any, but thats a rather long way to ride from here. 47km according to a dial thingy on olivers hill.
So we went and ate our icecream by the beach and sat there for a while.
When we were ready to leave, at about 3, we decided we didn't want to go back along the highway, so we took another road out of town that looked like it might go to frankston eventually. Turned out it went straight up and around Mount Martha, which was quite a bitch to ride up. It didn't go all the way up, thank god, so we were ok after a while and had some nice downhill along the coast for a while. It was really rather hilly along that coastal road, but not a bad ride compared to the highway. Seemed a lot faster than the highway too. We also got some impressive views of the bay from that coastal road.
So we headed along that road for a while, eventually coming to mornington where we had a little break. There was another nice view from where we sat. There was a large dip followed by a large incline coming right up, so once we started going again we gunned it down the hill and managed to get up the other side without having to destroy our leg muscles too much more. We started to be pushed back to the highway shortly after that, but we weren't quite ready for that yet, so we took a little detour along the coast some more through some residential areas. There were some nice houses back there, and lots of big trees so it was nice and shady. No traffic either which was a nice touch. It was a bit of a detour though and we ended up back at the highway anyway, fortunately somewhat closer to frankston than before. After that we followed the highway right back to olivers hill, passing the circus again. We stopped on olivers hill and found that metal dial I mentioned. It was a compass thingy with lines that point to various landmarks and such. It was kinda old, but also poor, since the line that pointed to melbourne looked like it was kind of off. Oh well, thats Frankston for you. We messaged people and tried to get them to come to frankston for dinner, but they had other plans, so we had to ride a bit further still. Olivers hill gave us a nice catapult into frankston, but on the way back to Stephens house we were having issues. My legs no longer ached, i seemed to have worn them in or something, but i was pretty tired. We craweled into stephens house, at which point the odometre on his bike informed us that we had ridden 75km, with an average speed of 13 kph and a top speed of 50.5 kph. His mum gave us some water and soft drink and icey poles, which were quite good. Stephen decided he didn't feel like riding to steves house, so I had to ride there on my own.
I was pretty damn screwed by the time I got there, so I just flopped in a chair and lay there for a while.
Eventually Jason came and we went and got some fish and chips, and I also got doritos. The meal was pretty damn good. Stephen got dropped off there too. Kiah finished work and so I had to ride home while the others went and got her. That ride was pretty crap, my chain did something really crappy at the top of steves road, and the best I could do was put it on the two biggest gears and hope it stayed there. I got home in that one gear, dumped the bike in the garage and washed the grease off my hands. The others arrived after a little while and we sat around my place for a while. After they left I tried to play gunbound with steve but it kept crapping up, so I just went to sleep.

Dum de dum dum dinger

Well, I've caught up on everyones blogs now, so now it's my turn. Heh, btw Steve, I like your blog much better now :). Sorry about my bluntness :). That fancy heading is nice too. You should also get the comments like everyone else so that I can put this crap in one of those. If you have it already I didn't notice it.
Anyhow, I've been working a lot recently, its a real pain. When they asked me to work tommorow I also said yes for some stupid reason. Probably coz I want to get rehired. I won't be able to work that much though, due to uni and the fact that I'm going to be doing a rather intensive course that probably requires a lot of study. Also because I intend to take up Kendo and if time allows some form of Kung Fu. All the while doing Karate and my piano lessons. Some time to play my viola and write music would be nice too. Gee, that sounds like a lot now that I say it. So the time i'll be available to work may be rather sad and they may not like that. Oh well, if they don't rehire me I don't think I'll get another job. I'll figure out another way to get money. I'll save the crap I make from this for some kind of trip at some point. I seemed to get by before, I can do it for a while longer. Theres always Lucid Space Designs, which we should probably keep going with.
The new Peter Pan movie has some cool music, particularly the first one featured in the credits. Its very cool. I hear it a lot cleaning the cinemas you see. The movie looks sort of crap to me, but that music is nice. I'll try download it in a few weeks, once more people have had the time to buy the soundtrack and rip the tracks.
Anyway, I'm off for some more rounds of gunbound. A few games a day and I'll slowly but surely make my way to my half-moon spear :).

Ahh the strangeness

Well, been sorta weird since I set off for work. My mum offered me a lift home if I liked but being a public holiday there was no bus to catch in so I just rode. Guess she didn't like the idea of me riding home at night. Oh well.
It's not as far as I remember, it only took me half and hour to get there. On the way I found a dollar, which I picked up since I figured if a penny is good luck then a dollar must be phenomenal :). I was getting really bored at work too, then I remembered it was a public holiday and I was getting double pay and suddenly it didn't seem so bad anymore. I also found 10 bucks and a shattered watch while cleaning the cinemas. They decided it was time to teach me to vend choc-tops too tonight. I think they had fun too. Damn them. I didn't sell any, but I don't think I did a bad job, 8.30 at night and sparesly populated cinemas are hardly the best conditions for selling choc-tops.
I poped into Cold Mountain just after I finished. It was a decent movie, kinda sad, though not the sort of movie I would pay to see. I might have hired it on video though. Go free tickets.
Anyhow, I then rode home. Riding at night is a little freaky, its hard to see the road in front of you and whenever cars pass you you pray that drunks aren't behind the wheel. Also it was cold and the air shooting past my ears made strange noises and also made them numb. A lamp post light died just as I rode past it too, it was trippy. Ahh well, thats what I get for riding about at 12.30.
So I got home to find my mum had driving down from her place looking for me. It seems she had been trying to ring me but being in the cinema I had left my phone on silent. I forgot to tell her I was seeing a movie after I worked also, so I think she might have thought I had been horribly mutilated in some fashion and gotten worried about me. She was kinda teary when I saw her. Sorry mum. Anyhow, she just hopped in her car and left after that, leaving me standing there a little confused. People worry too easily. I have been accused of worrying about all sorts of things too little many a time, but I say it's other people who worry too much. Exams and Sacs were a prime example.
So, lets go over the weird stuff that happened: Found $11 and a shattered watch, lamp post died as I rode by and found a teary mother at my doorstep.
I seem to be able to say its been a strange day rather frequently don't I? Someone who believes in omens should tell me what that stuff means :).

2004

Well well, new year eh? I bet some people would be making resolutions about now. I don't think I will though. It's not like I would do anything differently because of it. Any resolution I could have made I probably would have been going to do anyway.
The fireworks last night weren't bad, for what they were they were quite impressive, however THERE WERE NO BIG ONES!!! And that, in my opinion, brings down the entire display significantly. They should have traded all those shitty fire fountain crappy ones and bought some REAL fireworks! Bah, what kind of pyrotechnicians do they think they are?

Currently I am downloading what looks to be a rather funky online game, called GUNBOUND. Seems to be like worms, only online and I think you only get one character. You drive around in little armed vehicle things and try to blast each other. Customisable appearance too, which I always appreciate. Anyway, I'm gonna give it a shot. Downloaded 86% of the 97 MB so far, so not too long to go. Website is here if anyone else wants to take a look.

After work tonight I think I might go and see Cold Mountain. Looks like a decent movie, and I'll be in the mood for a movie after work. I finish at 9.45 and it starts at 9.45, so I might miss some previews but as long as I finish up quick I should be able to get in before the actual movie starts. Then I'll have to ride home. It'll be about midnight, but that won't really be any darker than 9.45 and at least there will be less cars driving about.
